How old are you?

What is the primary medium you work in?
Pen and ink

What is your favorite medium to work in?
Pen and ink, oils, most traditional media

What is your favorite subject matter?
Anything that warrants a sense of humor. Anything related to pop culture and political satire.

What art tools do you use, and do you have any tools or brands that you recommend?
I’m always experimenting with various pens for inking. White Gelly Roll pens are great for highlights. For coloring, Copic markers are a godsend.

What sources would you recommend for artists that are interested in pursuing your art medium?
Any book or class can show you how to become a better artist. But to actually become one, you still need to do the work. No class or book can do that for you. Creativity cannot be memorized.

How and when did you start creating artwork?
Probably since pre-school— when I first learned how to properly hold a pencil.

Did you go to school for art?
Yes. UC Irvine (Class of 2001)

If you could create anything in the world, what would you create?
A cure for all illnesses, both physical and mental.

What is your ultimate goal as an artist?
Nowadays, I mainly create to amuse myself— to keep myself sane in this increasingly insane world in which we live.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’re working on for this show?
I’ll be creating a series of drawings— each drawing depicting a different highlight of Henson’s career.

What is your favorite Jim Henson film/project/book/etc?
The Wilkins Coffee commercials for their sheer brutality and dark humor.

If you could live in any Jim Henson universe, what would it be?
Sesame Street— the one place where I’m unlikely to be killed or maimed.

Who is your favorite Jim Henson character? Why?
Fozzie Bear— no matter how much the critics (*cough* Stadler and Waldorf *cough*) he still maintains his sense of humor.

Who would win in a battle, Jareth and his Goblin Army or The Muppets?
Why, The Muppets, of course.

Anything else you’d like to add?
Everybody keep creating and keep laughing. The world needs it now more than ever.
