How old are you?
What is the primary medium you work in?
My primary work is digital due to convenience but I also love painting with acrylic.
What is your favorite medium to work in?
What is your favorite subject matter?
I enjoy more morbid or haunting subject matters. My art generally focuses on stories that lurk in a dusty corner, human nature, a lot of magic and a drop of misfortune.
What art tools do you use, and do you have any tools or brands that you recommend?
Most of my recent work is done on a ipad pro using procreate. When I get the chance to paint, I love using Golden acrylic paint on canvas or cotton rag paper.
What sources would you recommend for artists that are interested in pursuing your art medium?
I think it depends on what exactly you want to learn in that medium. I learn by doing, so maybe I will watch a few tutorials before trying something…but I’m not going to learn anything until I fail at it a few times. I always suggest looking at your favorite artist or pieces of work that use the medium you want to use and ask why you like it so much. Being able to understand what you want to achieve is the first step in being able to successfully explore the medium you are interested in.
How and when did you start creating artwork?
I have been drawing since I was little but I don’t think I ever saw it as a possible career until the end of highschool.
If you could give any advice to your past-artist-self, what would it be?
Oh boy. I would say, “Girl, you’re going to fail so many times and create some really not great art. It’s part of learning, just embrace it and keep moving.”
If you could create anything in the world, what would you create?
I really enjoy fairy tales and odd folklore, so if I could create anything I would love to create a giant illustrated book based around fairy tales, folklore, and magic from around the world. It would for sure have to be faux leather bound and with gold page edges. I think it would be so magical.
What is your ultimate goal as an artist?
My ultimate goal as an artist would to not only be able to support myself just by creating art but I hope one day I am in the position to help other artist too in some way.
Are you ready for the Halloween season? Is it your favorite holiday?
YES! Halloween is my favorite holiday and by far the best season. I always joke that Halloween decorations aren’t just seasonal decorations, they are year round decor.
What do you love most about The Haunted Mansion?
I have a natural fascination with ghosts and old things. The Haunted Mansion has all that, charm, and something fun. It is kind of is a morbid ride, but Disney made the idea fun too. I think the whole idea of morbid and fun has always resonated with me on a very personal level haha.
Who is your favorite Grim Grinning Ghost/room at the Mansion?
I can’t choose between these two but the bride ghost and Madame Leota are my favorites. My favorite room is hands down the ballroom. There’s something mesmerizing about watching those ghost spin ’round and ’round.
The 2003 Haunted Mansion film with Eddie Murphy, yay or nay?
Mostly a nay for me, but for some reason it scared one of my friends…so I never passed up a chance to put it on when she was around.
Which is better and why: the traditional Haunted Mansion, or Haunted Mansion Holiday?
Traditional Haunted Mansion.
Would you like to share any stories/experiences/special memories that revolve around The Haunted Mansion?
I wish I had something really cool happen to me at The Haunted Mansion but I don’t. Maybe next time one of the ghosts will work some magic so I can have a story haha.
Would you take a hitchhiking ghost home?
I feel as though I already have enough hitchhiking ghosts to deal with, but one of those guys might be fun. So sure, what’s one more.
Have you participated in the Artist Lodge Gallery before?
I haven’t! I’m super excited that this show will be my first.
