GALLERY ARTIST INTERVIEW: JENNY WILLMORE OF JENNIFIED ART

How old are you?
I am 30 years young.

What is the primary medium you work in?
Watercolor and Ink on paper or Acrylic/Vinyl Paint on wood/pleather.

What is your favorite medium to work in?
Watercolor pencils are my favorite medium, because I always start my ideas with watercolor sketches.

What is your favorite subject matter?
Animals, mostly dogs.

What art tools do you use, and do you have any tools or brands that you recommend?
I use Angelus paint and Trekell brushes on my patches. For my sketches and ink painting, I use Pentel watercolor pencils, with a Pentel water brush, and Pentel Pocket Brush Pen.

How and when did you start creating artwork?
I have been a creative since I was a child, it might not have been “Professional work” but I was the kid that always took my assignments to the next level (artistically).

If you could give any advice to your past-artist-self, what would it be?
Take risks, and don’t be so critical of yourself.

What is your ultimate goal as an artist?
My ultimate goal is a simple one… I hope my work brings happiness to myself and others, while supporting a comfortable lifestyle for me and my family.

Are you ready for the Halloween season? Is it your favorite holiday?
HALLOWEEN TIME IS THE BEST TIME….. I’ve been ready for this season, just not for this year in general.

What do you love most about The Haunted Mansion?
This is a difficult question since I love so much about it. I love the music, and the design, all the humor, and amazing Imagineering to make the “dead” come alive!

Who is your favorite Grim Grinning Ghost/room at the Mansion?
The attic used to be the scariest room for me as a kid, but now it is my favorite. I love all the details about Constance and her Late husbands hidden around the attic.

The 2003 Haunted Mansion film with Eddie Murphy, yay or nay?
NAY. I actually had a nightmare about running into Eddie Murphy at a party, and telling him that although I appreciate him as an actor and comedian, I did not like the Haunted Mansion movie. He was extremely offended, and I was ashamed of hurting his feelings. I’ve had that little nightmare more than once.

Which is better and why: the traditional Haunted Mansion, or Haunted Mansion Holiday?
Traditional. I love the Nightmare before Christmas version too, but I prefer the focus to be on the stories of the ghosts living in the mansion.

Would you like to share any stories/experiences/special memories that revolve around The Haunted Mansion?
I used to be dreadfully frightened of the beating heart bride (before she was changed to Constance). I would always cover my eyes as we entered the attic.

Would you take a hitchhiking ghost home?
I’d rather not. I don’t know what kind of house guest a hitchhiking ghost would be….. plus, what would I feed it?

Have you participated in the Artist Lodge Gallery before?
Yes, I love it.
