How old are you?
What is the primary medium you work in?
Polymer clay/acrylic paint.
What is your favorite medium to work in?
Anything I can mold.
What is your favorite subject matter?
Animals – mostly pets but also monsters.
What art tools do you use, and do you have any tools or brands that you recommend?
I have a couple favorite sculpting tools that I’ve acquired but nothing fancy.
What sources would you recommend for artists that are interested in pursuing your art medium?
I would recommend if you’re interested in sculpting, to just keep at it. No matter what kind of art you’re trying to do, the more you do it, the better you get.
How and when did you start creating artwork?
I went to college for painting. I’ve always made art, but I never sold it until I was off from work for a couple months (furloughed because of covid) I work full time as a fondant sculptor/manage the decorating department at a bakery. I make sculptures (usually out of Rice Krispie treats) and then cover them in fondant. I also sculpt cakes. That is where my Instagram name comes from, it’s a nod to the dessert world I work in. When I was furloughed, I started making some things out of polymer clay and friends asked if they were for sale. I was only selling them to friends locally at first and then it all sort of expanded from there. I am now working on opening an online shop! I love being able to create art for others.
If you could give any advice to your past-artist-self, what would it be?
Don’t be so critical of yourself and don’t be afraid of what others will think. Be brave!
If you could create anything in the world, what would you create?
I love making monsters. I’d like to work on one that was a much bigger scale. I like to find the balance between cute and creepy.
What is your ultimate goal as an artist?
Right now I am trying to balance a full time job and part time art and I’d like to reverse that.
Are you ready for the Halloween season? Is it your favorite holiday?
I’m so ready! It is my favorite holiday and it’s my favorite time of the year. I love the decorating and the costumes. It’s magical!
What do you love most about The Haunted Mansion?
I love the Mansion itself. I love the whole mood of the building/architecture and the feeling I have when I’m about to go inside.
Who is your favorite Grim Grinning Ghost/room at the Mansion?
It’s got to be Madame Leota.
2003 Haunted Mansion film with Eddie Murphy, yay or nay?
Which is better and why: the traditional Haunted Mansion, or Haunted Mansion Holiday?
Traditional. Don’t mess with it.
Would you like to share any stories/experiences/special memories that revolve around The Haunted Mansion?
I have great memories waiting in line with friends, looking at all the tombstones.
Would you take a hitchhiking ghost home?
Of course! The more the merrier.
Have you participated in the Artist Lodge Gallery before?
No, first time!
Anything else you’d like to add?
I’d like to thank all the other artists out there that are supporting each other and keeping positive during this time. I’m so happy to feel such love and support from them and all of the people that have chosen to follow me on this journey.
