Nella and Pendragon are a duo of illustrators that create both digital and traditional art pieces. Our digital art is best showcased through art prints, stickers, charms and more. While our traditional art consists of sketch cards, custom comic book covers and acrylic paintings.
How old are you?
Nella is 22 and Pendragon turns 22 on June 24th!
What is the primary medium you work in?
We typically work digitally through procreate, but for traditional works, Nella paints with Acrylics while Pendragon works with Copic Markers.
What is your favorite medium to work in?
Nella loves to play with watercolors while Pendragon loves to test out new brush pens for inking.
What is one medium that you would love to learn?
We would love to try rug tufting or tattooing, but both require a lot of time, training and tools!
What is your favorite subject matter?
Nella and Pendragon love all things space. Space Exploration is a central theme to a lot of our original pieces.
What art tools do you use, and do you have any tools or brands that you recommend?
Pendragon recommends Micron Pens and Copic Markers. Nella really likes Windsor and Newton inks and paints!
What sources would you recommend for artists that are interested in pursuing your art medium?
We live-stream our art process over on our twitch! There we like to answer any art questions and show some behind the scenes work. We are creators that truly believe in supporting other creators and we have an amazing community over there.
How and when did you start creating artwork?
We started creating together in 2016. We were friends (who then started dating) who both had a passion for art and decided to give it a shot together.
If you could give any advice to your past-artist-self, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to scrap a piece! Start something new, even if you’ve spent hours working on a project, if you’re not happy with it, restart and try again.
If you could create anything in the world, what would you create?
We are currently working on creating our own comic, Nella and Pendragon. The characters are based on us, and will have many aspects of our own personality, but it is set in deep space in the far future.
What would you do if you were only two inches tall?
Nella would hang out in someone’s pocket. Pendragon would probably try to ride a bug.
If you could shrink any piece of art to carry around in your pocket with you, what would it be and why?
Nella would love to shrink any of Caravaggio’s works! They’re beautiful.
Can you tell us about the pieces you created for this gallery?
These pieces showcase our NAPA (Nella and Pendragon Art) Crew! Nella, the alien boards an escape pod and meets her sidekick and lifelong companion Chip the Robot! Their pod crashes into NP, the astronaut’s ship and they’re left stranded! Looking for crucial resources they land on a deserted planet where they stumble upon Kizz, the fox! These characters are a part of our universe and will be showcased in a comic book later this year! Learn more about them on our website: NellaAndPendragon.Com
Are there any messages that you’re aiming to convey with the art you created for this gallery?
Create something outside of your comfort zone, wHether it be a new medium, or a medium extra small or very large, make something to be proud of.
Would you like to share any stories/experiences/special memories that revolve around the theme of this gallery?
Pendragon’s color choice was inspired by our Patrons! He had originally created a series of extra vibrant Star Wars sketch cards at their request and had a blast with it, so these pieces turned out much more colorful than we originally expected!
Would you rather have the ability to shrink very small or become a giant?
Nella is very short while Pendragon is very tall so we would swap for a day and see the world in each other’s shoes!
Is this the smallest piece of artwork that you’ve ever created?
Yes, it was such a fun challenge!
Have you participated in the Artist Lodge Gallery before?
This is our first time!
